These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and the operator of linkchart (“we”, “us”) when you access linkchart.art, register an account, or use our visual intelligence mapping platform. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.
1. Agreement
By creating an account, clicking “Register”, or using the service you accept these Terms. If you use linkchart on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation.
If you do not agree, do not use linkchart.
2. The service
linkchart is a browser-based tool for building link charts and network diagrams: placing entities (persons, vehicles, addresses, events, communication, etc.) on a canvas and drawing labelled relationships between them. Features may include map storage, collaboration, export, and real-time sync where available.
We may modify, suspend or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable. The service is provided on an “as available” basis during beta and ongoing development.
3. Accounts & security
You must:
- Provide accurate registration information and keep it updated.
- Maintain confidentiality of your password and session credentials.
- Notify us promptly at hi@linkchart.art of unauthorised access.
- Be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction).
You are responsible for all activity under your account unless caused by our breach of security.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use linkchart for unlawful, harassing, defamatory or fraudulent purposes.
- Upload malware, attempt unauthorised access, or interfere with the platform or other users.
- Scrape, reverse engineer or resell the service except as permitted by law.
- Store or process data without a lawful basis under applicable investigation, employment or privacy law.
- Misrepresent affiliation with law enforcement or any government body.
5. Your content & maps
You retain ownership of investigation maps and content you create. You grant us a limited licence to host, process, back up and display your content solely to operate and improve the service (including collaboration and technical support you request).
You warrant that you have the rights to upload content and that it does not infringe third-party rights or violate law. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
6. Collaboration & sharing
When you invite others to a map, you control their access level where the product supports it. You are responsible for invitations sent and data exposed to collaborators. We are not liable for misuse by users you invite.
7. Intellectual property
linkchart, its branding, software, documentation and design are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks except fair use of the name to refer to the service. Feedback you provide may be used without obligation to you.
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal data. By using linkchart you acknowledge that policy. You must handle personal data on your maps in line with applicable law.
9. Disclaimers
linkchart is a visualisation and documentation tool. It does not provide legal, investigative or law enforcement advice. We do not guarantee that maps are admissible in any proceeding, complete, or free from error. Relationship lines and entity cards reflect user input, not verified facts.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF linkchart.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the service in the twelve (12) months before the claim shall not exceed the greater of (a) amounts you paid us for the service in that period, or (b) one hundred (100) USD. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases our liability is limited to the fullest extent allowed.
11. Indemnification
You will defend and indemnify us against claims, damages and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of linkchart, violation of these Terms, or violation of third-party rights or law.
12. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms, risk to security, or legal requirement. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends; we may delete account data per our Privacy Policy and retention practices.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms. The effective date will change when we do. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes may be communicated by email or notice in the application.
14. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country apply. Courts in Norway shall have exclusive jurisdiction where permitted, without prejudice to mandatory rights you may have as a consumer in the EEA/UK.
